Maple Cranberry Sauce is so easy to make you’ll wonder why you’ve been buying canned! You can also make this recipe ahead of time and refrigerate until it’s time to grace your holiday meal table!
1 orange
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoon maple sugar
12 ounces fresh cranberries
pinch of salt
orange zest
Wash the orange and zest – I grate several long pieces to use for garnish, the rest of the orange peel I grate finer to cook with the cranberries. Slice orange in half and juice it. Mix orange juice, maple sugar and water in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil, add cranberries, salt and orange zest ( leave aside some for garnish) and return to a boil, reduce heat and boil on medium for about 10 minutes stirring gently until most of the cranberries have popped open. Transfer to serving bowl, cover and chill until ready to serve. Add garnish directly before serving.
