The apples 🍎 are just starting to ripen here on the farm. I have planted several varieties over the years. I also have lots of old old apple trees that may not have the prettiest apples but oh my the flavor. Someday soon I would like to learn how to graft apple trees so I can preserve some of the old varieties. This is also the year of pruning. I’ll be learning that along the way too!
Carmelized Maple Apples
- 2-3 apples (adjust amount for the amount of French toast your making)
- 1 cup Robust Maple Syrup
- 3 Tablespoons butter
Slice the apples evenly – I prefer leaving the skins on, but that’s optional. On low heat melt the butter, add the apples and pour the maple syrup in. Cook gently about 5 minutes or until the apples are soft.

Cinnamon Maple French Toast
- 2-3 fresh eggs
- 2-3 pieces of toast (thicker bread or homemade bread work best)
- 3 Tablespoons Cinnamon Maple Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons butter
In a bowl – whisk the eggs and Cinnamon Maple Sugar thoroughly. Soak each side of the bread until covered. Melt part of the butter on a hot griddle and add the bread. Cook 2-3 minutes per side. Use more butter as needed for each remaining piece.
